About Poets Ink!

Poets Ink! and has been gathering for slightly more than four years now.

Poets Ink! is not a society or anything like that and all poets experienced or not are welcome.

We began as two with a specific project for the Stroll, quickly became three, all based in St. Albert and now have a varying number on each Thursday somewhere between three and ten, and on rare occasions more.

We are gathered to write.  The core group, now five, take turns preparing  a set of exercises and at the end of the evening, each participant will leave with at least two pieces to develop when they have more time and personal space.

As a group, Poets Ink! has:

  • Hosted several readings

  • Hosted three evenings titled Poetry and Pasta,

  • Read regularly at several book stores, pubs and the like;

  • Participated in the Stroll of Poets, Edmonton, Poetry Week, the Roar, Raving Poet's Society  and as part of Edmonton Poetry Week

  • Participated in the reading and instruction day at the Victoria School of the Arts

  • Studied in workshops with such fine and well-known poets as Patrick Lane,  Lorna Crozier and Sheri D. Wilson

While we take our writing seriously, fun is also a part of each night's writing regular attendees include some with publishing credits back ten years or more and one of us started to write poetry about seven months ago.

We have simple rules:
  •     No membership, everyone is welcome when they can come;
  •     No agm;
  •     No fees;
  •     No votes, but let us discuss any good idea;
  •     Bring a paper and pencil, you will write; don't expect to finish any of the exercises, not likely to happen; and

    ENJOY YOURSELF.

We meet most Thursdays, those near stat holidays and summer exempted (family first), 7 - 9 pm at The St. Thomas Cafe in St. Albert.  Address 44 St. Thomas  Street.
